HIGH-PERFORMANCE BENCHMARK AND BENCHMARK UNIT ORDER

 

 

I, Bev Yee, Deputy Minister of Environment and Parks, pursuant to section 6(2) of the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Regulation, hereby make the Order in the attached Appendix, being the High-Performance Benchmark and Benchmark Unit Order.

APPENDIX

 

TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION AND EMISSIONS REDUCTION REGULATION

HIGH-PERFORMANCE BENCHMARK AND BENCHMARK UNIT ORDER

 

Definitions

 

  1. In this Order:

 

    1. “crude canola oil” means oil produced from the low erucic acid oil-bearing seeds of Brassica napus, Brassica rapa, or Brassica juncea species, and the associated solid residue resulting from processing of the seeds;

 

    1. “department” means the Department of Environment and Parks;

 

    1. “ethyl alcohol” means un-denatured food grade alcohol which is intended for human ingestion, including liquor and spirits, but excluding beer and wine;

 

    1. “granular urea” means a white solid nitrogen-based fertilizer having the molecular formula CO(NH2)2 that is produced from the reaction of ammonia and carbon dioxide to form ammonium carbamate, which is converted to urea and granulated;

 

    1. “regulation” means the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Regulation;

 

    1. “sub-bituminous coal” means coal that is recovered or obtained from a coal mine located in the Plains Region as defined in the Natural Regions and Subregions of Alberta published by the department, as amended or replaced from time to time.

  1. A product listed in the Table below has the respective high-performance benchmark and benchmark unit listed in the Table.
