WHEREAS the occurrence of wind damage to property and infrastructure in Central Alberta from severe wind events from August 1 to 3, 2009 caused extraordinary emergency operations and clean-up costs to the municipalities of Clearwater County, the Town of Trochu and the Town of Carstairs;
WHEREAS the extraordinary losses and damages caused by the wind events have reached such a point that it constitutes a disaster;
THEREFORE the Lieutenant Governor in Council declares that a disaster exists, in the nature of extraordinary emergency response costs resulting from the wind events with respect to the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
