Safety Codes Act

PLUMBING CODE AMENDMENT REGULATION

1   The Plumbing Code Regulation (AR 219/97) is amended by this Regulation.

2   Section 1(1) is amended by adding the following after clause (a):

(a.1) "certification body" means an organization accredited or recognized by the Standards Council of Canada as a certification body;

3   Section 2(1) is amended

(a) in clauses (a) and (b) by striking out "organization accredited by the Standards Council of Canada" and substituting "body";

(b) in clause (b) by striking out "the certification organization" and substituting "the certification body".

4   Section 3(3) is amended by striking out "1990" and substituting "1997".

5   Sections 4 and 5 are repealed and the following is substituted:

Effect of codes

4   The Code referred to in, and as varied by, section 3, and any codes or standards referenced in that Code, do not make or imply any assurance or guarantee by the Crown in right of Alberta with respect to the life expectancy, durability or operating performance of equipment or materials referenced in the codes or standards.
