Definition

1   In this Regulation, “occupation” means the occupation of industrial construction crew supervisor that is designated as a designated occupation pursuant to the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act.

Constitution of the occupation

2   The undertaking that constitutes the occupation is the supervision of a construction crew with respect to a construction project or maintenance for an industrial plant or pipeline, including the fabrication or assembly of components.

Tasks, activities and functions

3   When practising or otherwise carrying out work in the occupation, the following tasks, activities and functions come within the occupation:

                                 (a)    maintain a safe worksite and comply with worksite specific safety policies;

                                 (b)    implement the project plan and project schedule with respect to the construction crew;

                                 (c)    manage construction crew meetings;

                                 (d)    interpret technical documents, drawings and specifications;

                                 (e)    supervise a construction crew, assess crew members’ skills and arrange for training of crew members;

                                 (f)    comply with worksite policies and procedures with respect to materials, personnel or other resources;

                                 (g)    maintain project documentation with respect to progress, quality control and client specifications;

                                 (h)    meet industry and project quality and productivity standards.

Expiry

4   For the purpose of ensuring that this Regulation is reviewed for ongoing relevancy and necessity, with the option that it may be repassed in its present or an amended form following a review, this Regulation expires on June 30, 2021.

Coming into force

5   This Regulation comes into force on June 1, 2008.
