Definition

1   In this Regulation, “Act” means the Local Authorities Election Act.

Modification of s74

2   Section 74 of the Act is modified for use by the City of Red Deer to the extent provided as follows:

                               (a)    the notice referred to in section 74(1) must include a statement that blind voter templates will only be available at advance voting stations and will not be available on election day.

Modification of s75

3   Section 75 of the Act is modified for use by the City of Red Deer to the extent provided as follows:

                               (a)    the returning officer referred to in section 75 must make blind voter templates readily available at advance voting stations.

Modification of s78

4   Section 78 of the Act is modified for use by the City of Red Deer to the extent provided as follows:

                               (a)    notwithstanding section 78(5), an elector who is blind must vote in accordance with section 78(1) or (3);

                              (b)    section 78(5) is considered to be repealed;

                               (c)    section 78(7) is considered to read as follows:

(7)  When a ballot has been marked pursuant to this section, the deputy shall enter in the voting register opposite the name of the voter the words “voter assistance”.

Expiry

5   For the purpose of ensuring that this Regulation is reviewed for ongoing relevancy and necessity, with the option that it may be repassed in its present or an amended form following a review, this Regulation expires on October 31, 2019.
